The Fosber Compact automatic slitter scorer is composed of two independent
working stations. Each station contains a slitting and a scoring unit. While
one station is in operation, a programmable robotic system sets the tools
for the following order. At order change, a 90° rotation of the central
turret inverts the operating and setup stations. Rotation time is one second.
The Compact can be fitted with the Kleen-Cut system. This system consists
of a single thin upper blade which is supported by a lower slotted shoe
anvil. Each slitting unit is composed of two expandable shafts on which
the blades are mounted. Scoring pressure is fully adjustable via the servo-controlled
eccentric system which moves the scoring shafts in or out of proximity to
each other, thus altering the scoring depth. The Compact can be fitted with
an edge-guide system and is free to move laterally across the web so the
unit is always centred on the web so reducing trim to minimum. The trim
chute heads are automatically positioned at each order change. All machine
functions are automatically controlled by the PLC. Order entry and data
transfer is controlled by NT based software running on an IBM compatible
PC and monitor, from which the operator can view the orders. The Compact
can also be furnished with a third (auxiliary) scoring station with either
manual or automatic set-up for special profiles or minimum scoring width
down to 0 inches. The auxiliary scoring station has its own support structure
which is indexed up vertically into the board line when required to run.
